The A-1, adopted by the U.S. Army Air Corps in the 1930s. A button front that laps across the body, with knitted collar, cuffs, and hem — the early model that can fairly be called the origin of the flight jacket.

The outer leather here is Polish horsehide, top grain. An oil-wax finish gives it a deep lustre and shadow, and because it is tea-core, the brown base shows through at edges and worn areas the more it is worn, so every jacket ages differently. The lining is a brushed wool-blend fabric, giving both a vintage look and warmth.

■ Care
Wipe dust and dirt off the surface gently with a dry, soft cloth. If it is caught in rain or gets wet, remove the moisture straight away with a dry cloth and let it dry naturally in a well-ventilated, shaded place. For long storage, hang it on a thick hanger and use a breathable cover rather than a plastic bag. If it starts to feel dry, we recommend a conditioning cream made for oil-wax leather.

■ About natural leather
Because natural leather is used, grain, creases, uneven colour, veining (range marks), and variation in fibre density may be visible. These are the individuality of a natural material, not defects. Colour may transfer through friction, perspiration, or rain, so please take care when wearing it with light-coloured clothing.
