The US ARMY M-65 liner — the scarce two-tone specification of the late 1960s to early 1970s, made to modern standards.
【The history of the M-65 LINER】
The M-65 field jacket liner was the first liner in US ARMY history to use a composite material. Quilted nylon on both faces with polyester fibre fill between made it dramatically lighter than the heavy wool liners that came before. Early models were mostly olive green, shifting gradually towards a yellower khaki green in the later years. In that transition, for a short period from the late 1960s into the early 1970s, a yellow-green and olive-green two-tone specification existed. This model reproduces that scarce variation faithfully.
【Vintage warmth that settles in as you wear it】
The M-65 LINER was made in the first place for genuinely cold conditions. Over the years the outer shells tended to be lost, and vintage enthusiasts discovered the surviving inner liners and took to wearing them on their own. As an outer layer, indoors, or as a mid-layer, its visual effect is striking. Paired with the original M-65 shell, it completes a textbook military look. Pulling on an army-green LINER indoors in winter feels like holding cold hands up to a heater — comfortable and familiar at once. That is what wearing SIMONS feels like.
【Details we insisted on】
• Faithful to first-year specification, but with stitch density doubled and every seam allowance bound and enclosed
• Folded-seam construction, so it finishes cleanly enough to wear as an outer layer
• Three imported Japanese fabrics in a single liner (twill nylon plus fine-check light nylon in two colours)
• First-year colour numbers reproduced faithfully, with military urea buttons
• Two pockets added that the first-year specification never had, solving where to put your hands and what to carry when worn as an outer layer
【Filled with 3M THINSULATE™】
An innovative insulating material that uses no animal-derived content. Dry, it holds heat like natural down; wet, it keeps its warmth better than down does. We use TYPE M, a lightweight mid-loft fill that gives the best value for the performance.
