MA-1 Leather Bomber Jacket MERCER — Wide Cut, Brown-Core Vegetable-Tanned Cowhide

An MA-1 rebuilt as a loose, wide-cut leather bomber. Rather than copying the classic outline, the pattern was reworked around what the leather itself wants to do. It reads quietly at first glance; the loose-but-not-slumping stance only shows once it is on.

The leather is a vegetable-tanned cowhide with a brown core. It carries more body and more presence than the sheepskin, and where it rubs the brown underneath comes through. The years of wear become the finish — the same pattern sits heavier on the shoulders than the sheepskin version.

The lining is a cotton rib-weave — jungle cloth, the heavy fabric used on the original American deck jackets. Thick and firm, it works as a frame inside the body, which is why the wide cut holds its shape instead of collapsing.

CONMAR zippers at the front and the pockets, dot buttons stamped with the SIMONS logo. Wool rib at the collar, cuffs and hem, with an indigo leather label inside.

・Keep it out of the rain. If it does get wet, blot the water off with a dry cloth and let it dry naturally in the shade.
・Store it on a hanger that matches the shoulder width.
・Wipe marks with a dry soft cloth and feed the leather with a leather cream as needed.
・Keep it out of direct sunlight, heat and damp.

・Creases, vein marks, scars and unevenness of colour are part of a natural hide, not faults.
・Colour may transfer or fade, and the leather will change with wear.
