Sonoma Jacket — Wide Shoulder, Shaped Waist, Horsehide

A leather jacket built on the classic motorcycle jacket, with volume through the shoulders and a nipped-in waist for a silhouette with real shape. The outer leather is full vegetable-tanned horsehide in its undyed colour, which gains lustre and deepens towards amber the more it is worn. The contrast against the vivid lining is part of the appeal.

Character of the material:
The pores are clearly visible, and the leather takes in water and oil readily. It is finished in its original colour, hard-wearing and slow to lose colour.
As it is unfinished, it is neither waterproof nor rain-resistant. Take particular care with water early on.
Water-dyed, so it can be worn as it is. The material settles in and gains character the more it is worn.
As the leather takes up perspiration and oils through wear, it develops a natural patina.

• Natural: outer leather: horsehide (full vegetable-tanned, undyed); lining: yes. *A full vegetable-tanned natural veg leather, so it gains lustre and deepens towards amber the more it is worn. Sun and scuffing become part of its character as they happen.

• Black (Tea-Core): outer leather: horsehide (oil-wax finish); lining: yes. *An aniline-type oil-wax leather; the brown base (tea-core) shows through with scuffing, shifting towards a black with real depth.

• Take care to keep the leather away from rain and water. If it does get wet, blot the moisture off promptly with a dry cloth and let it dry naturally in a well-ventilated, shaded place.
• Store on a hanger that matches the shoulder width so the garment keeps its shape.
• Wipe dirt away gently with a dry, soft cloth, and condition with a leather cream as needed.
• Store away from direct sunlight, heat, and humidity.
