MENDOZA Single Riders — First Generation, Crescent Pocket, Tea-Core Horsehide

MENDOZA — a jacket brought into the present from a 1930s Cossack-style original. Four full years since the first version was shown in April 2021. It is the sum of everything we learned, overturned, and refined along the way. The collar shape, the balance through chest and waist, how closely the hem wraps — every element that decides the silhouette has been revised and corrected again and again. Vintage style, refined for a contemporary eye.

【What makes the first generation its own: the crescent pocket】
This is the first-generation specification, with crescent slash pockets rather than the second generation's. It reads as more minimal and more refined, and its appeal is a simple, elegant silhouette with the decoration held sensibly in check. Precisely because the decoration is stripped away, the quality of the leather and the bearing of the wearer say everything.

【About the material: Padova tea-core black horsehide】
Made in Padova tea-core black horsehide, developed in-house by REAL SIMONS in 2023. The deep, layered colour of tea-core black (blackened brown) sits close to black while letting brown show through depending on how the light falls — a distinctive, vintage-feeling character.
Polish raw horsehide selected to AA grade. Creasing is kept within a narrow range, giving an even grain across the surface. In retanning, we add more fat liquor than usual along with a milk-protein treatment, which brings out a supple hand, improved softness, and a fine surface lustre.
A piece for those who want the real thing: it settles in the more you wear it, gaining a lustre and character all its own.

• Take care to keep the leather away from rain and water. If it does get wet, blot the moisture off promptly with a dry cloth and let it dry naturally in a well-ventilated, shaded place.
• Store on a hanger that matches the shoulder width so the garment keeps its shape.
• Wipe dirt away gently with a dry, soft cloth, and condition with a leather cream as needed.
• Store away from direct sunlight, heat, and humidity.
