Durango sits in the south-west of Colorado. Founded in 1880, the town grew up with the railway and with hauling ore from the mines. Its narrow-gauge line, serving the mountain mines, later became a symbol of railway culture in the American West. The name brings to mind the late-19th-century West: railways, mines, and the rough work clothes of the people who settled it. DURANGO is a trucker jacket that carries that air.
The shape is a short trucker reworked from the Type1 (first type). A shield-shaped flap pocket at the chest, pleats on both sides of the placket, and a cinch belt with a brass buckle at the back.
The leather is vegetable-tanned tea-core cowhide. The tannage was reworked from scratch so that, instead of the pebbled grain usual on cowhide, it shows the fine vertical creasing of horsehide. As the black wears and the brown core comes through, it becomes almost impossible to tell from horsehide. It also keeps the advantages of cowhide: few scars and a fine, even surface. You would need to look at the fibres on the back to tell the difference, yet it is sold as cowhide, at a cowhide price.
The same jacket in the limited wine red oil-wax horsehide is rs-wk-036.

■ Care
・Colour or oil can transfer to pale clothes while the jacket is new. Keep it off pale clothes at first.
・Do not wash, tumble dry, dry clean or iron.
・Keep it out of the rain. If it does get wet, blot the water off with a dry cloth and let
it dry naturally in the shade.
・Store it on a hanger that matches the shoulder width.
・Wipe marks with a dry soft cloth and feed the leather with a leather cream as needed.
・Keep it out of direct sunlight, heat and damp.
■ About natural leather
・Creases, vein marks, scars and unevenness of colour are part of a natural hide, not
faults.
・Colour may transfer or fade, and the leather will change with wear.
・Every piece looks slightly different.
