MENDOZA Single Riders, Heavyweight Shrunken Grain, Black Horsehide

MENDOZA, a jacket brought into the present from a 1930s Cossack-style original. Four full years since the first version was shown in April 2021. It is the sum of everything we learned, overturned, and refined along the way.
The collar shape, the balance through chest and waist, how closely the hem wraps. Every element that decides the silhouette has been revised and corrected again and again. Vintage style, refined for a contemporary eye.

This is the version in our own heavyweight shrunken-grain horsehide, which REAL SIMONS has taken its time bringing out. Every jacket is a one-of-a-kind piece, made semi-to-measure.

【About the material: our own heavyweight shrunken-grain horsehide】
A heavyweight horsehide developed in-house by REAL SIMONS, built up from undyed full vegetable-tanned raw hide through several rounds of involved processing. A through-dyed black finish gives it a black with real depth. It is by no means cheap to produce, but it stands out on value even against imported leathers.

【1-of-1: every jacket different, one of a kind in the world】
The differences in grain that come out of this heavy tanning process are far larger than you would imagine. The character of the grain, and where it falls, are completely different on every single jacket.

On some the grain is pronounced, almost exaggerated; on others it is comparatively flat and gentle. Every jacket is a 1-of-1, one of a kind in the world.

This model is available only in made-from-the-actual-hide, semi-made-to-measure mode. We recommend it only to experienced buyers with some understanding of natural horsehide.
By placing an order you are deemed to have accepted all the biological characteristics (blemishes) of natural animal leather. This is a jacket for those who can love the character of a hide as character, rather than seeing it as inconsistency.

• Take care to keep the leather away from rain and water. If it does get wet, blot the moisture off promptly with a dry cloth and let it dry naturally in a well-ventilated, shaded place.
• Store on a hanger that matches the shoulder width so the garment keeps its shape.
• Wipe dirt away gently with a dry, soft cloth, and condition with a leather cream as needed.
• Store away from direct sunlight, heat, and humidity.

• Because this is natural leather, creases, veining, scars, and uneven colour may be visible. These are the character of a natural material, not defects.
• Colour may fade, transfer, or change with age through wear.
