A 1930s sports-jacket pattern rebuilt for the way people are built now. Room is left through the chest and shoulders while the body is deliberately drawn in toward the hem, so the taut vintage line survives without costing comfort. The pattern was developed with REAL SIMONS from real customer measurements gathered by our US stockist.
The shell comes in two leathers, one per colour. Black is REAL SIMONS' own Padova tea-core horsehide; Brown is an amber-dyed, high-density vegetable-tanned horsehide. The body is lined in a wool blend and the sleeves in a quietly lustrous cloth. Zips are CONMAR of Newark, New Jersey, and the whole jacket is sewn with Coats thread.
[Black: Padova horse leather]
The black is cut from Padova, REAL SIMONS' own tea-core horse leather. Polish hides are selected to an AA-grade standard and finished black at the surface with a brown core left beneath. As the surface scuffs with wear, that brown shows through and the leather grows a warmer character.
At the retanning stage we add more fat liquor than usual together with a milk-protein treatment, drawing out a supple hand and an even grain.
[Brown: amber-dyed vegetable-tanned horsehide]
The brown is cut from the same hide as the Archetype in Amber Brown: an amber-dyed, high-density vegetable-tanned horsehide. It carries deeper grain movement, and its russet cast lightens along the creases as the jacket breaks in. Because it is a different leather, the brown is priced a little above the black.
Pattern, sizing, lining, zips, thread and construction are the same for both colours.

■ Care
• Take care to keep the leather away from rain and water. If it does get wet, blot the moisture off promptly with a dry cloth and let it dry naturally in a well-ventilated, shaded place.
• Store on a hanger that matches the shoulder width so the garment keeps its shape.
• Wipe dirt away gently with a dry, soft cloth, and condition with a leather cream as needed.
• Store away from direct sunlight, heat, and humidity.
■ About natural leather
• Because this is natural leather, creases, veining, scars, and uneven colour may be visible. These are the character of a natural material, not defects.
• Colour may fade, transfer, or change with age through wear.
• Every piece looks slightly different. Please order with this in mind.
